The Regional Nominees for the 2011 Earl Reum Award are shown below, shortly after receiving their Regional Award plaques at the National Conference on Student Activities in Salt Lake CIty, Utah on Saturday December 3, 2011. The nominees listed below are pictured from left to right:

Each of the above nominees is truly "an excellent teacher of teachers", embodying the spirit and ideals set forth by Dr. Earl Reum in founding NAWD while serving as true inspiration to student leaders as well as fellow advisors and activity directors.

Gary Oberste is Dean of Students at Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, OK where he has been the Student Council sponsor for 34 ywars. He has sponsored freshmen, sophomore, and junior classes, served as prom advisor, and supervises 38 groups and clubs at Bishop Kelley. He has been a workshop presenter at the NASC National Conference, Oklahoma Association of Student Councils (OASC) Summer Leadership Workshops, State Advisor workshops, and conducted the RSVP program for Bishop Kelley High School. He has led the OASC Summer Leadership Workshops since 1980, has made motivational presentations to students and advisors at many school districts in Oklahoma, sponsored leadership workshops for ninth graders and conducted over 20 faculty inservice workshops at his own school. Since 1998, he has taught Fish Philosophy Workshops at Oklahoma high and middle schools where he trained teachers on using positive attitudes to change the school climate. Gary has been the Executive Director of OASC since 2000, was named the Oklahoma state Advisor of the Year and received a Warren E. Shull Regional Award in 1992, and has been recognized in the Bishop Kelley High School Hall of Fame.
